Summary:
Consolidated Electrical Distributors, Inc. (CED), a large, nationwide wholesale electrical distribution company, is seeking a Background Check Administrator to join the Fleet Department. The Fleet Department oversees the company's overall fleet purchasing, selling, maintenance, and vehicle and driver compliance for 700+ locations throughout the United States. The fleet team additionally supports and provides the administrative function of background checks, drug screenings, MVRs and FMCSA compliance for commercial vehicle drivers. In addition, we support affiliated companies as needed regarding fleet issues. Daily functions of the Department include providing recommendations to operations management on various fleet issues, including applicable regulatory and legal compliance, insurance, and licensing.
This position will report to CED’s Fleet Manager and is primarily responsible for handling responsibilities related to CED’s background checks, MVRs, Drug Screenings and DOT compliance.

Minimum Qualifications:
Previous experience with in a background check administrative support role
Proficiency in MS Office
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in the following areas:
Motor Vehicle Reports (MVRs)
Knowledge of DOT Physicals / Medical Certificates regulations and requirements
Experience with Pre-employment drug screening, reasonable suspicion testing, and DOT Random Drug and Alcohol Testing and FMCSA Clearinghouse

Working Conditions:
This position operates in a professional office environment which may require sitting for extended periods.

Essential Job Functions:
Responsible for conducting comprehensive background checks on potential employees, current employees or temporary employees, by verifying their identity, employment history, education, criminal records, Motor Vehicle Records and other relevant information via a 3rd party provider.
Ensure compliance with legal regulations while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy throughout the process, often collaborating closely with the onboarding team, legal, and fleet departments to facilitate smooth hiring procedures.
Ensure compliance with both driver and vehicle responsibilities including but not limited to DOT, FMCSA, Driver Qualification Files and Motor Vehicle Records.
Process new hire drug screenings, reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing, and random DOT Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with FMCSA regulations.
Notify managers of decisional results.
Process annual MVRs and review / address monitoring alerts as they are received.
Process monthly invoices from 3rd party service providers related to background checks, MVRs, drug screenings, physicals, etc.

Compensation Range:
The compensation range for this position is $22 to $25 hourly.
