Summary:

Consolidated Electrical Distributors Inc. (CED) is one of the largest electrical solutions distributors and product suppliers in the country and we are seeking an experienced IT Network Administrator. Located in St Joseph, MI, CED’s network support team is responsible for CED’s network administration supporting our 700+ locations across the country. The successful candidate will have experience administering and supporting various Wide-Area and Local-Area networks, as well as phone and email systems. CED is focused on finding the best talent as we continue to grow and build upon the success that was started in 1957.

The position will work with CED management, system engineers, network administrators, software development groups, IT help desk, and IT project managers to support and maintain IT systems and networks.

Reports to: IT Systems Engineering Manager

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent

  • 3+ years of experience in various IT disciplines including LAN administration, wireless network administration, desktop support, email systems, telephone systems, and modems/routers.

  • Expertise with networking in a Microsoft Windows environment

  • Proficiency to read, write and communicate orally the English language, especially I.T. technical terms and concepts.

  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Ability to operate a personal computer, printers, and external computer peripherals.

ADDITIONAL COMPETENCIES:

  • Established experience and a passion for providing exceptional customer service.

  • Proven troubleshooting skills.

  • Confidence interacting with a wide range of people from clerical staff, network specialists, developers, senior management, and vendors.

  • Must possess the ability to work under pressure.

  • Must possess the ability to multi-task, organize multiple work tasks and prioritize them to meet specific deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of firewall administration

  • Understanding of modern VOIP and legacy telephony technologies

  • Comfortable with command line interfaces and scripting

  • Experience with IT concepts such as SSL certificates, domain record management, and email security via SPF/DKIM/DMARC, and VPN technologies

  • Skilled in technical writing to develop runbooks and document processes and procedures.

  • Knowledge of and experience with current technology and industry trends.

  • Experience with utilizing support ticketing systems.

Working Conditions:

  • Physical qualifications required to perform the job function to lift 25 lbs., climb stairs, sit for long periods of time.

  • Office environment, with minimal travel required.

  • Requires occasional after-hours and weekend work.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide Level III telephone support for networking equipment and network services at CED locations, including the firewall appliance, wireless access points, LAN switches, Internet Service Providers / WAN circuits, and VOIP and telephone systems.

  • Responsible for managing and administering programs for domain name registration, DNS record management, and public SSL certificate maintenance.

  • Maintain accurate inventory of network equipment installed at CED locations.

  • Provide effective communication regarding outages and incidents.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues. Escalate issues as necessary using clear and concise communication. Follow-up on status and coordinate with end users as required.

  • Maintain network security through patching and firmware upgrades of network devices.

  • Complete special projects as needed.

  • Coordinate and communicate with CED’s field services, engineering, and security teams.

  • Develop and maintain runbooks and procedural guides related to network administration as assigned.
